Weldolate is self-reinforced branch fittings suitable for butt welding. 

It is used in piping to take branches from the run pipe without using a reinforcement pad. 

A reinforcement pad is welded around the branch to compensate for the weakness created by a hole in the run pipe to take the branch.

You can see this in the top image.  

But you can use heavier, specially designed olets that work as self-reinforced branches. You can see this in the bottom image.
